The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee aims to secure National Government and UN commitment to the SDP IWG and to the recommendations and concepts developed as a result of this initiative. The Executive Committee is led by a Chair, who represents the initiative, and presides over the meetings of the SDP IWG. The United Nations Development Program chairs the SDP IWG.
Executive Committee includes Ministers or senior governmental officials on the ministerial level or their representatives, and senior UN officials on the level of the Executive Director (Director) of UN agencies or their senior representatives.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Executive Committee
- Provide leadership on key policy issues
- Advocate for systematic inclusion of Sport for Development in the existing programs and policies
- Approve the selection of new members to the Executive Committee through the Bureau
- Issue formal invitations to other potential Executive Committee members through the Secretariat
- Approve the selection of the Secretariat at its first meeting
- Approve the goals and objectives of the project
- Approve the final results and outcomes of the project
- Ensure that the key values of the SDP IWG are reflected in all activities and outcome documents
